I believe that most police departments have cleaned up their act, with very few holdouts in the struggle to evolve. The rights of citizens have been trampled on in the past, but it wasn't until recently that a video could be posted in near real time that could illuminate a problem with this amount of clarity - to say nothing about near instantaneous discussion and highlighting of these problems in multiple discussion forums. Just think of the number of phone calls a typical reporter must make to discover the truth and then find corroborating evidence as opposed to one fellow biker posting a video online and blasting it out to the world. Nay, in the past whenever some young punk got his head busted openly unfairly, he seldom got any attention outside his own family and police departments had little to no incentive to limit their actions or reactions. Now a police officer has to consider him or herself being video'd at all times. v/r Joel -----Original Message----- From: dc-cycles-bounces@XXXXXX [mailto:dc-cycles-bounces@XXXXXX] On Behalf Of Aki Damme To: dc-cycles@XXXXXX Subject: Re: [dc-cycles] Man that videotaped police faces 16 years in jail It seems to me that ever since 911, *some* police departments have the mistaken assumption that it's given them the unquestionable right to violate the rights as well as intimidate and harass citizens under the guise of "national security".
