"So many members of the armed forces have been dying on sport bikes like
the Ninja that the Navy and Marines have made special training mandatory
for sport bike riders this year. In one weekend in September, the Navy
lost four men in sport bike accidents."

years ago, I worked at a hospital on an army base in Saudi Arabia. I
had an R80/GS at the time, but I couldn't ride it to work because
motorcycles weren't allowed on base. One day I met a Saudi colonel in
the dental clinic where I worked, and I asked him about the ban on
motorcycles. He said "all the soldiers will want them, they'd all kill
themselves."

At the time I thought he was a bit of an ass, but at the rate the
army/navy/marines guys are going down, I wonder if he had a point...
Seems like a very high casualty rate - are these guys more gung-ho on
a bike than civilians?
