Fresh asphalt was laid last week on Turn 1 and through Turns 5 and 6. This was only my second or third track day this year...I was busy completing my open water scuba instructor certification and so had to miss out on a few days. This was my first with Nesba this year. Very professionally run. Great day - light rider's group because it was Monday. Got up at 5AM and rode the R6 out to the track...little bit of nervousness and anticipation. Light fog on the Dulles Greenway. Pulled into pit row and was adopted by a very nice couple from Pennsylvania that offered me a chair under their EZ-Up and a place for my back pack. The track was awesome. The riders were great so a lot of recognized faces. The day was 100% adrenaline amazing....A Duc going into Turn 4 hit the apex cone sending it flying through the air to impact yours truly. I got some good feedback from the control riders..there is always so much to work on. Body position...set it and forget it...body position when braking. I had a CR behind me and was thinking about working where my head and shoulders should be...I missed the apex at Turn 3 by a good three feet. I ran out of track and did the only thing I could...stood the bike up....shot across grass..super loose grip on the bars..shot across gravel. My mind knew there was nothing I could do so I just totally relaxed...got off the gravel back on the track and kept going. My R6 performed flawlessly. Only one rd flag due to the apex cone being right on the race line. I did this route on one of my western trips--certainly doable in one day. Wave as you go around Chillicothe--it's pretty much Ground Zero for my branch of the Wilson clan. :) On Tue, Sep 9, 2008 at 11:06 AM, Julian Halton wrote: > I am wondering if anyone here has tips on a quick fun route to get across to there for MOTO GP. or if anyone is riding down Saturday. > _______________________________________________ > dc-cycles mailing list > dc-cycles@XXXXXX > http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles > _______________________________________________ dc-cycles mailing list dc-cycles@XXXXXX http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles _ _ _ _ .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. OHDOT practiced the "Economy of Apices" rule on that road... why have a hill with an apex, and a turn with an apex, when you can just combine them! it's a super-fun road, just don't try to push it - you often can't tell what way the road is going to go. the road may go hard left, but the telephone poles will go straight. hit it in the daylight. It's a bit nerve wracking in the dark if you're not familiar with it. you can do 555 all the way north to Zanesville, and then slab it over to indy.
