I just started taking a TIG welding class at the Manassas NVCC campus this past week. We've only had one class so far, but it involved a tour of the metalshop - there is some serious equipment there. It is kind of a shame that they don't have a metalshop class, I'd love to learn more about that stuff as well. I noticed several project cars & engines there, so somebody is using some of that equipment, at least. I'm really pumped up about the welding class - but then came down to earth when I started pricing TIG welders. Ouch! Spendy, way spendy... Oh well. Yep...but O/A is pretty cheap, and a lot of the same skills apply, so it's good practice. You can also cut, bend, braze, pre-heat and anneal with an O/A rig, so even if you get a TIG later, it's still useful to have. Oh, and you don't need 220v outlets nearby. ;-) -- Mike B. _______________________________________________ dc-cycles mailing list dc-cycles@XXXXXX http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles _ _ _ _ .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. I've got some clean break sportbike parts that could use some welding if anyone wants to practice? Let me know, because I was planning on taking the stuff to the same guy who did my fairing stay. (no rush) BTW anyone happen to have an 04-06 R1 upper fairing (or raceglass)? (and/or subframe) ? rearseat? - Danny _______________________________________________ dc-cycles mailing list dc-cycles@XXXXXX http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles _ _ _ _ .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. .-.-.=\-. You need to book the ferry ride WELL in advance. Lodging for TT week is at a premium and it also has to be done in advance. I have to admit that last year after I went to Ireland, I caught my wife looking at the IOM ferry schedules >:-) What did I do? In one of the stupidest moves of my life I told her 'don't bother, it will already be booked.' I had a schedule conflict anyway. Have you checked out the iomtt.com forum? Dave (who is now thinking... Yeah...
