Last month (can you believe it?) Norloff  asked,
"Can anybody recommend an electrician to deal with old wiring at my
Mom's house <snip>"

[Carl]:  Checkbook does periodical surveys of service by various
folks, including electricians and rates them according to price and
customers' comments on reliability etc.
Hie over to your local library and see if they have copies.
Last review for electricians was May 2007.
